Where the name came from

Back when men wore top hats,
the work was superb.

And when it was not, the person who did it was back there fixing it. There were no call centers and no apps. Business ran on a handshake, and on a relationship nobody could afford to break.

That is the standard this company took its name from. It is not nostalgia. It is a working policy, and every Top Hat job is held to it.

What we clean

Three services. One standard.

The list is short on purpose. Every job on it gets the same method, the same attention, and the same walkthrough before anyone leaves.

01

Carpet Liquid Dry Cleaning

Low moisture liquid dry cleaning for the large majority of work, walkable again in hours instead of a day. Hot water extraction is brought in only where soil has genuinely reached the padding.

How the method works

02

Upholstery Cleaning

Sofas, sectionals, dining seats and delicate vintage pieces, cleaned with the approach the fabric actually calls for so nothing shrinks, bleeds, or comes back stiff.

What we handle

03

Commercial Programs

Scheduled carpet care for clubs, restaurants, clinics, offices and manufacturing facilities, planned around your hours rather than interrupting them. Night and off-hours work is standard.

Traffic path, written off as a replacement

Soil ground into the walking path between rooms. This is usually where the new-carpet conversation starts. It did not need to.

What this company is for

We are in the business of saving carpet, not selling replacement.

Replacement is the easy recommendation, and it is almost never ours. If a carpet can be saved, we would rather save it, and most of the time it can be.

A great deal of the carpet that gets condemned as a replacement job is simply carpet that has never been cleaned properly. Replacement runs into the thousands. An estimate costs nothing.

We were convinced our upstairs carpet had reached the end of its life and would need to be replaced. They even removed stains we were sure were permanent. Marie, Google Review

The Top Hat Standard

What every job includes,
whoever is wearing the hat.

This is not a courtesy extended on good days. It is the written process behind every Top Hat cleaning, residential or commercial.

We meet you at the door before anything comes off the truck

Introductions and a few minutes of conversation come first. You should never feel like you are interrupting the work by asking a question. At Top Hat, the person cleaning your carpet is also the customer service.

You walk us through, and you mark the problems

You show us the rooms, the traffic lanes, the spot the dog found, the thing you have been looking at for a year. Every carpet is treated as heavily soiled regardless. The areas you point out get more time on top of that.

Your home is protected, not just your carpet

Corners guarded, furniture handled with care, and everything set back where it belongs. Service exceeding all expectations, while maintaining the utmost respect for you and your property.

The method is matched to the fiber, not to the schedule

Low moisture liquid dry cleaning handles most work. Hot water extraction is used only where soil has genuinely reached the padding, because oversaturating carpet is what takes years off its life.

You inspect it while the equipment is still in the house

You are asked to walk the whole job before anything gets loaded. If an area needs another pass, it gets another pass. No job is finished until you say it is.

Real jobs, real floors

Liquid Dry cleaning, not soaking

Much of the industry uses hot water to cover for a weak product.

Steam cleaning is another way of saying hot water extraction. The appeal is the idea that hot water is killing the bacteria in your carpet. In practice, a product that actually works kills the bacteria on its own.

The cost of the hot water approach lands on your floor. Oversaturation breaks down the carpet backing and the padding underneath it, and that takes years off the life of something you paid for.

Soil and bacteria sit at the surface level of carpet, not down in the pad. The only time the pad genuinely needs flushing is a pet accident or a spill that soaked all the way through, which is exactly when extraction comes out.

  • Dry again in hours, not the day or more steam leaves behind
  • No residue left behind to attract soil straight back into the fiber
  • Low moisture means stains are far less likely to wick back up as it dries
  • Safe for the family and the pets to be back in the room the same day

People tell us they put off cleaning for years so they would not shorten the life of the carpet. With this method it is the other way around.

The one thing almost everyone gets wrong

By the time you can see it,
the damage is already done.

Carpet is built to hide what is in it. Once soil is visible at the surface, it has already worked its way up from the backing, and it has been grinding against the fiber the entire time it was down there.

Sand and grit tracked in on shoes behave like sandpaper. That is what a permanent traffic lane actually is. Not a stain, but fiber that has been worn away and cannot be put back.

Cleaning on a schedule is what prevents it. Waiting until the carpet looks bad is what causes it, which is the entire argument for a maintenance program in a building where people walk the same path every day.

What is actually down there

200,000+

bacteria can live in a single square inch of carpet. That is thousands of times what is found on a toilet seat.

Dead skin cells, pet dander, food particulate and dirt off the soles of shoes build up first. Given long enough, E. coli, salmonella, mold and dust mites follow them in.

I was cautious about finding someone to clean my vintage mohair chairs due to their age and value. They turned out beautifully.
